  • Merry Little Christmas

If your like me, the best thing to give someone is a gift card. I have to say that I dislike to do this because it seems so impersonal and lack of thinking but... who doesn't like to go shopping on their own to actually receive what they just simply can't live without. Here's a great little gift card holder that makes that card personal... made by you with love! Base card- olive green used here - 4 1/4" x 11" score @ 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" White cardstock - 2 1/2" x 3 1/2", 4" x 5 1/4" Red cardstock - 2 3/4" x 3 3/4" Snowflake cardstock - 2 3/4" x 4", 2 1/4" x 4", 1" x 4" misc items used - 1" punch, Quickie glue pen, Glamour Dust glitter With the card folded on the 5 1/2" score line, Adhere the 2 3/4" x 4" snowflake cardstock onto the front, left of the score line. Adhere the 2 1/2" x 4" snowflake cardstock on the other side of the score line to the right. Open up the card and using the 1" punch, punch a half circle in the middle from the edge through both layers. Adhere the two outer sides down, remember not to adhere the front part so that the gift card can slide in. Stamp the Wishing you sentiment onto the 4" x 5 1/4" white cardstock and adhere to the inside. Adhere the 1" x 4" snowflake cardstock on the edge of the white cardstock. Adhere the red cardstock onto the front half only. Stamp the Little Christmas stamp onto the 2 1/2" x 3 1/2" white cardstock. Using the pine branch stamp and Bamboo memento ink, stamp on all 4 corners. (It is ok to overlay the stamp onto the sentiment). I am using a quickie glue pen to add my glitter to the pine branches. Adhere this piece to the red cardstock on the front of the card. You can't see it in the photo but the wow factor is the little bit of glitter added to the branches. Your card is now done!

  • Oh Christmas Tree

The middle of October and we're already seeing snowflakes here in the buckeye state! It's been a few years since the temps have fallen to freezing in the month of October but yet again, there has been snow for Halloween! Yikes. The holiday season has begun and if you're a procrastinator (as I usually am) your holiday cards have yet to be done... So here's the first in a series of seasonal cards. I probably will work backwards since I always start reading a magazine from back to front (doesn't everyone hahaha) and post what I've been working on recently. Embossed Christmas Tree Red cardstock 5 ½”x8 ½” score at 4 ¼”, 3 ¼”x 4 7/8” Black cardstock 2 7/8”x4 5/8” Black dot paper 4”x5 ¼”, 4”x5 1/8” 1 white cardstock 3 1/8”x4 ¾”, silver mirrored cardstock 3 1/8”x4 ¾” Ribbon, hole punch, versamark ink, silver embossing powder, embossing powder bag, heat tool Fold the scored card in half. Layer mirrored on the red, this on the black dot. Powder the black cardstock and stamp your tree with the versamark ink. Pour the silver embossing powder on the stamped image and remove the excess powder. Heat with heat tool. Layer this on the top of the mirrored cardstock. With your hole punch, punch a hole on the bottom of the black embossed piece through all 4 layers. Take the ribbon and fold in half. From the back, using the ends of the ribbon together put through the hole (these 2 ends are the tails). Put the ribbon loop from back of card around the front of the card and pull the tails carefully on each side of the ribbon on the front and tie the knot. Stamp the white cardstock and layer on the other black dot paper. Adhere to the inside of the card. Simply Stampin stamps used – Holiday Tree ASC109 Joy of Christmas 1500614

  • I ain't no quitter

We all have our days of project not quite ending up the way we would like it to... This was one of those creations. I started out with the angel stencil and had a vision to use my Wendy Vecchi metallic gold embossing paste. Didn't work out well the first time around, I removed the stencil and low and behold... I dropped it! lol A few choice words were spoken, under my breathe of course, and started from scratch. Back to the drawing board and started again. Sprayed the stencil again with my Pixie spray, put it on the paper again, took out my embossing paste and... just couldn't get it flat! Frustration has now set in but onward bound and changed my vision, I'm not a quitter... So here is the finish product-using the same angel stencil and my Versamark ink pad. Sprayed once again, tapped the Versamark into the opening of the stencil, applied Judikins Metallic Gold embossing powder, removed the stencil and heat set the embossing powder. I took my cloud template, Distress Oxide Broken China and Salty Ocean and made the background of the card. When I do it again, I will probably reverse this and do the background first and stencil later. All in all, don't give up... our visions may not always work out, sometimes it just needs to be tweeked! Stencil- Angel Wings 2 2020-5045 Rubber Cottage - Angels Work 1393CA
